The image of open cluster NGC 2100, solid 18K gold spectacles, impressive structures using hundreds of one-Yuan coins and image of Apollo 17 landing site on the Moon are among the outstanding news on 7 September 2011.

The amazing image of the open cluster NGC 2100 is stunningly captured by ESOs New Technology Telescope (NTT). The bright star is about 15 million years old which can be found near a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way in the Large Magellanic Cloud. As can be seen from the picture, the cluster is surrounded by glowing gas from the nearby Tarantula Nebula. More importantly, the brilliant cluster star has the closet proximity to the impressive Tarantula Nebula and the super star cluster RMC 136.
